Horses

This is the Mama.
She also answers to Sweet Girl and Sweetie Pie.

Mama is a BLM Mustang and Mama to Miss and Nicker.
Near as we can decipher from her BLM brand she was 13 when she arrived at the ranch in 2008.

She is a horse with a kind eye and a gentle soul.
When she arrived at the ranch she had her 3 or 4 month old filly with her.  What we didn't know at the time was that she was pregnant.   The filly that arrived at the ranch with her is Miss.  The filly she gave birth to in March of 2009 is Nicker.

This girl is a good Mama and holy cow - she has a lot of patience.  She is raising both her girls and taking the time to teach the boys not only how to be a horse, she is teaching them horse manners.

This is a picture of Mama's BLM freeze brand.  The BLM webpage has a chart which we'll use to decode the symbols.  The symbols document where she was branded, the BLM estimated year of her birth and what organization brought her in.  The other piece of information the BLM will be able to provide one we give them her ID numbers from the brand, is who her first owners were and from there, hopefully we will be able to piece together some of her history and better understand her background and training.  It isn't critical to know where she came from - she is a gentle horse and it is obvious from her manners that someone has spent a great deal of time with her - we're just kind of curious where she grew up, when she was rounded up and where she lived before she came to live with us.
